What Do Patients Value About The Care You Deliver? Can You Share Patient Feedback Or A Story That Has Brought You Joy?
From a patient: I’ve been working with Alicia O’Connor for two years and consider her the best personal trainer I’ve ever known. With her background as an athlete, along with her extensive training and experience, she offers individualized workouts for each client. For myself, my goals are general fitness in retirement, but, with my history of back surgery, Alicia has customized my workouts: rigorous but always with safety and protection from injury in mind. She’s the best!
How Has A Challenge You’ve Overcome Propelled You To Greater Success?
Having torn my ACL and gone through other injuries from various athletic activities, I have faced surgery and rehabilitation myself. I feel that allows me to use those experiences to better relate to my patients, put myself in their shoes and help them focus on what is possible. For me, personal training is a way of helping others overcome challenges, both physical and emotional.
What Have You Discovered About Yourself As You Have Progressed In Your Career?
The fundamentals of daily exercise, a healthy diet including fruits, vegetables, proteins and healthy fats, plus adequate sleep are essentials to good health and well-being. Prioritizing time to exercise is key, and this is a habit I wish every patient would embrace.
Who Or What In Your Life Empowers You To Bring Your Best To Your Work?
I really appreciate my co-workers. They truly support me and are always there to help me provide the best care possible. I also love working for such a great organization as MUSC that provides the same level of care and professionalism.
