Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Dr. James Schnell earned his M.D. from the University of South Carolina Medical School. Upon graduation, he entered the Bowman-Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University and North Carolina Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine. In 1995, he moved to Nashville to earn his fellowship in gastroenterology at Vanderbilt University.
Ready to move back to South Carolina, Dr. Schnell joined the practice of Palmetto Digestive Disease in 1997. He enjoys working with his patients, counseling them on how to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
“I’ve learned from my patients that every patient is an individual with their own needs and I tailor the care for that patient,” Dr. Schnell says.
Dr. Schnell has no trouble maintaining a healthy lifestyle. As an avid jogger and golfer, he gets plenty of exercise. And he enjoys spending time boating and surfing with his children.
