What is a Radiologist?
Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in diagnostic imaging through X-rays, CT scans, MRI’s, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET) and ultrasounds. Medical students who pursue radiology graduate from an accredited medical school, pass a licensing examination and then go onto complete a residency. They learn radiation safety and protection, radiation effects on the body and the appropriate interpretation of radiologic imaging examinations.
